Financial reports that build themselves — Voice Money Manager

Because every voice entry, scanned receipt and imported statement is already categorized, your Profit & Loss and category reports update on their own — no month-end spreadsheet.

Financial reports that build themselves

By the Voice Money Manager team · Updated July 2026 · 6 min read

Most people meet their financial reports once a year, in a panic, the week before taxes are due. They open a blank spreadsheet, dig through a shoebox of receipts, and try to remember what a $47 charge from four months ago was actually for. It is slow, it is stressful, and it is usually wrong.

Voice Money Manager flips that around. Every time you say an expense out loud, snap a receipt, or import a bank statement, the transaction lands already categorized. And because the categorizing happens at the moment of entry, your reports are never "out of date" — they are simply the live sum of everything you have recorded. There is no month-end ritual, because the work was already done in ten-second pieces all month long.

Why the reports are always current

A report in most apps is a thing you generate. In Voice Money Manager, a report is just a lens on data that is already clean. When you tell the app "spent forty-two dollars on gas at Petro-Canada," it stores the amount, the vendor, the date, and the category — Fuel — all at once. Multiply that by every entry, and your Profit & Loss, your income-vs-expense summary, and your category breakdowns can all be assembled on the fly, instantly, whenever you open them.

The magic isn't the report screen — it's that every entry is categorized before it ever reaches the report. Clean inputs mean the output never needs fixing.

How to open a report and change the date range

  1. Open the app and tap Reports. You land on your Profit & Loss by default — income at the top, expenses below, net at the bottom.
  2. Use the date range selector to pick This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, This Year, or a custom start-and-end date.
  3. Switch report type to see an income-vs-expense summary or a category breakdown that ranks where your money actually went.
  4. Tap any category row to drill in and see the individual transactions behind the number — the same receipts and voice entries you logged.

A concrete example

Say you run a small landscaping side business. Over June you logged jobs by voice, scanned fuel and supply receipts, and imported your business bank statement. You never touched a spreadsheet. When you open Reports and pick June, this is waiting for you:

Income — Jobs invoiced$6,400.00
Fuel-$380.00
Materials & supplies-$1,240.00
Equipment rental-$300.00
Phone & software-$95.00
Net profit — June$4,385.00

That is a real Profit & Loss statement, built without you assembling anything. Change the range to This Year and the same lens recalculates across every month at once. Why this matters at tax time

The single biggest reason bookkeeping feels awful is that it is all crammed into the end. When the categorizing is spread across the year and the reports build themselves, tax season becomes a five-minute export instead of a lost weekend. Your category totals are already your deduction totals. For the full walkthrough of getting ready, see our guide to tax season.

The payoff is not just less work. It is seeing your business clearly, all year — knowing this month you netted more than last, spotting that fuel crept up, catching a category that quietly ballooned. Reports stop being a chore and start being a dashboard.

Your reports are already written

Every voice note, receipt and statement you have logged is sitting in a clean Profit & Loss right now. Open it and see where you stand.

FAQ

Do I have to click a button to refresh a report? No. Reports read your live data, so the moment you log a transaction it is reflected. Change the date range and the totals recalculate instantly.

Can I get a Profit & Loss for just one quarter or a custom period? Yes. The date range selector includes This Quarter, This Year, and a fully custom start-and-end date, so you can slice any window you need.

What if a transaction was categorized wrong? Tap the category row to drill in, open the transaction, and recategorize it. Every report that includes that period updates to match — no re-generating required.
